The Red Lake Tribal Council announced a Red Lake Tribal Police Officer passed away this morning.
The Minneapolis FBI office tweeted that agents are investigated a shooting that fatally wounded the officer.
According to the announcement, Red Lake Police Officerss were responding to a call when a subject fired a weapon, killing the officer.
The suspect is in custody as the investigation continues.

Out of respect and in honor of this fallen officer, all non-essential programs will be closed today, by order of Chairman Darrel Seki, Sr.
All tribal programs and businesses will keep flags at half-staff throughout the week.
