Situation Update for Thursday, April 15

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 2,736 new cases of COVID-19 today and 11 new deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 549,830 and the death toll to 6,989.

Four of today’s reported deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. There have been 4,324 deaths in these types of facilities.

Today’s data comes after around 46,000 tests were completed yesterday. More than 3.8 million people have been tested for COVID-19 with 8.7 million tests completed.

More than 524,000 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need isolation.

COVID-19 case rates in the area are on the rise, with some rates nearly doubling since the last report. For the two-week period ending April 3, Beltrami County had 28.41 cases per 10,000 people, an increase of about four points.

Cass County’s rate rose 13 points to 30.67, Clearwater County’s rate rose 10 points to 21.56, and Hubbard County’s rate increased about nine points to 16.3.

MDH reported eight new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County Thursday, 15 new cases in Cass County, four new cases in Clearwater County and 12 new cases in Hubbard County.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,705 cases and 57 deaths, Cass County has had 2,474 cases and 26 deaths, Clearwater County has had 766 cases and 14 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,705 cases and 41 deaths.
