Situation Update for Thursday, April 22

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1,973 new COVID-19 cases today and ten new deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 562,420 and the death toll to 7,054.

Five of today’s newly reported deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. There have been 4,343 deaths in these types of facilities.

Today’s data comes after nearly 44,000 tests were completed yesterday. More than 3.9 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state with 8.9 million tests completed.

More than 538,000 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH is reporting six new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, 14 new cases in Cass County, five new cases in Clearwater County and six new cases in Hubbard County.

For the two-week period ending April 10, Beltrami County had 29.92 new COVID-19 cases per 10,000 people, an increase of about one point from the last report.

In the same period, Cass County’s rate increased by 18 points to 48.58, Clearwater County’s rate stayed the same at 21.56 and Hubbard County’s rate increased about nine points to 25.41.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,760 cases and 57 deaths, Cass County has had 2,538 cases and 26 deaths, Clearwater County has had 790 cases and 14 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,750 cases and 41 deaths.
