Situation Update for Wednesday, Aug. 19

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 567 new cases of COVID-19 today, and 17 new COVID-related deaths, bringing the state’s totals to 66,618 cases and 1,738 deaths.

Of those deaths, 1,295 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 7,406 were health care workers.

Over 1.3 million tests have been completed so far, with 1.02 million people tested. Yesterday, between MDH and external laboratories, almost 35,000 tests were completed.

To date, 60,242 COVID patients have been released from isolation.

Hospitalizations increased slightly today, 321 in total with 152 of those in ICU settings across the state.

MDH reported two new COVID cases in Beltrami County today, bringing the total to 281 with one death; one new case in Cass County, bringing the total to 84 with three deaths; the first new case in Clearwater County in a number of weeks, bringing the total to 15; one new case in Itasca County, total of 151 with 12 deaths; and one new case in Mahnomen County, total of 30 with one death.
