Situation Update for Wednesday, Jan. 6

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 2,346 new COVID-19 infections today and 67 new deaths, bringing the state’s case count to 427,587 and the death toll to 5,528.

Of all deaths, 3,553 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of all cases, 33,193 were health care workers.

Today’s data comes from around 24,000 COVID tests completed yesterday. Over 3.031 million Minnesotans have been tested, with 5.762 million tests completed.

Since March, 406,910 COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 in Beltrami County today, six new cases in Cass County, five new cases in Clearwater and six new cases in Hubbard County.

To date, Beltrami County has had 2,956 COVID-19 cases and 44 deaths, Cass County has had 1,970 cases and 20 deaths, Clearwater County has had 671 cases and 14 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,420 cases and 37 deaths.
