Suspect at large after Ridgeway shooting

The Bemidji Police Department is looking for an armed suspect after an altercation early this morning at the Ridgeway Apartments.

According to a release, officers and Beltrami County deputies responded to 2830 Ridgeway Avenue on a report of numerous gunshots around 4:12 a.m.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a 19-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshots. He was treated and released at the Sanford Hospital, but refused to cooperate with detectives on what happened.

Detectives say the shooting appears to be the result of a verbal altercation between the 19-year-old victim and another male outside the apartment building.

The suspect, according to the release, arrived at the location in a gold or silver Cadillac 4-door sedan, wearing a tan plaid short sleeve shirt, black shorts and a red and black baseball cap.

After the shooting, the suspect appeared to have fled the area in the Cadillac with an unknown driver.

A second male wearing a red sweatshirt was also present just before the shooting, and the Bemidji Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying these people and the vehicle.

If you have information on these crimes, you can report it and stay anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers of Minnesota online or by phone at 1-800-222-8477.

All contact with Crime Stoppers, according to Chief of Police Mike Mastin, is anonymous and tippers may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.

The photos below appear to be captures of surveillance footage around the time of the incident, submitted by Chief Mastin.
