Suspicious death in Deer River under investigation

Authorities are investigating a suspicious death in Deer River.

According to a release, Itasca County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home early Tuesday for a welfare check.

A citizen requested the welfare check, and upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased adult male inside the house.

The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and there is no immediate threat to the public.

More information will be released upon completion of the autopsy and family notifications have been made.

The Deer River Police Department and the Minnesota BCA are assisting with this investigation.
