Two men injured after a stabbing and robbery in downtown Bemidji

A 38-year-old Bemidji man was reportedly stabbed and another man was assaulted Wednesday night in downtown Bemidji.

A Bemidji Police Officer stopped a suspicious vehicle leaving the 300 block of Minnesota Avenue at a high rate of speed, and learned that the driver of the vehicle had witnessed the assault and was driving the victim tot he hospital.

Other officers found the other man near the same intersection and identified 24-year-old Chase Carrigan, who also appeared to be assaulted.

Carrigan stated that 38-year-old Donald Pepworth assaulted him and stole his portable speaker, and admitted to stabbing Pepworth.

Robbery and assault charges have been forwarded to the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office.

Pepworth was transported to Sanford Bemidji for further evaluation.
