Two sex offenders released to Bemidji

The Bemidji Police Department is giving notification of release for two risk level three sex offenders.

The two men, 33-year-old Richard Derby and 55-year-old Jeffrey Ballek, are moving to the 900 block of 11th St. NW Sunday, June 27.

Derby has been out of prison on parole since February, and Ballek has been paroled since last October.

Both remain under intensive supervised release.

Derby’s past crimes include manipulating a girl to pose in a sexually explicit manner.

Ballek’s history includes engaging in sexual contact with two known girls over an extended period of time, and he also possessed child pornography.

These two offenders have served the sentence imposed on them by the courts.

Derby is described as a 5’7″ American Indian man, weighing 176 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.

Ballek is described as a 5’4″ white man, weighing 190 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.
