Well-known Park Rapids farm loses three buildings in fire

A well-known Park Rapids farm lost three buildings in a fire last Friday.

The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office responded to Carter’s Red Wagon Farm with the Park Rapids Fire Department. Firefighters spent hours trying to extinguish the fully-involved fire on a barn, a straw shed and a storage shed.

The owner was operating a skid-steer inside the barn when a spark from the exhaust ignited the straw. According to the release, Dwight Carter tried to extinguish the blaze with his shirt but the fire spread too quickly.

Carter then retrieved another piece of equipment and pulled the skid steer out of the barn before it also caught on fire.

No injuries were reported, as Carter only singed his beard and hair.

The buildings and their contents are considered a total loss.
