White Earth Public Transit’s Bakken named Transit Professional of the Year

White Earth Public Transit Manager Kenneth Bakken was named this year’s Minnesota Transit Professional of the Year.

This is the fourth award that White Earth Public Transit has received under his management.

The department has been recognized across the state and nation for its operations, expansion, leadership, and innovative response in a time of need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

most recent operating grant successfully received was a $3.6-million grant from the Federal Transit Administration for busses and bus facilities, which will be used to construct a new facility in Waubun.

The nomination for Minnesota Transit Professional of the year came from Dean Templin who presented the award to Bakken along with MPTA staff at the annual conference on Oct. 24 in St. Cloud, Minn.
