Two more sentenced for roles in May 2020 homicide

Two were sentenced this week for their roles in a May 2020 homicide in Beltrami County.

Forty-year-old Travis Gunning was convicted of aiding and abetting second-degree murder with burglary and arson charges dismissed as part of the plea deal.

Thirty-three-year-old Rebecca Lockman was convicted of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Gunning was sentenced Monday to 439 months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility, or nearly 37 years, with credit for serving about three years in local custody.

Lockman was sentenced Thursday to 153 months at the Shakopee Prison, or nearly 13 years, with three years credit for time already served.

Lockman, Gunning and Devin Belcourt, sentenced to over 30 years two weeks ago, pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit a burglary at an address at Trengove Road in May 2020.

After entering the residence, a gunfire exchange involving Belcourt, Gunning, and the burglary targets ensued, killing one man, with Gunning and another victim sustaining gunshot injuries

When law enforcement arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames and they found the remains of one man with a bullet wound in the head.

Lockman assisted Gunning and Belcourt by waiting in the car and driving them away from the scene.

Lockman and Gunning were arrested in Minot, North Dakota, with Belcourt arrested in Mahnomen County a few days later.
