The University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Invasive Species research center and local partners will host a regional event later this month in Cass County.
According to a release, the first day of the event on Friday, June 23 will be held at the Cedar Lakes Casino in Cass Lake, featuring presentations from regional lake associations, the Leech Lake Division of Resource Management, the DNR and others. Presentations will cover the latest in AIS research and management.
AIS in this region includes starry stonewort, spiny water fleas, zebra mussels, and rusty crayfish, with a presentation that will cover AIS impacts to wild rice.
The second day of the event on June 24 will focus on hands-on demonstrations at the Bimijiwan Recreation Area, formerly known as Knutson Dam, as well as Moose Lake in Beltrami County.
Registration is $45 for both days; registration for only Friday is $30. There is no option to register for only Saturday.
