White Earth’s MAT billing dispute settled with signing of Health and Human Services Omnibus bill

With the Health and Human Services budget bill signing, language was included to clear up the billing disputes for substance use disorder medication-assisted treatment.

In 2019, the Department of Human Services alleged White Earth Nation’s MAT Program overbilled for services provided over two years in excess of $14 million.

White Earth maintained that they were following DHS billing guidelines.

The $18.8 billion bill includes language that finally settles the dispute.

White Earth Chairman Michael Fairbanks applauds the action, and said, “Now we can fully focus on providing quality services to our people…. for healthier families and stronger communities.”
