Radar Fire now 70 percent contained

The Radar Fire is now 70 percent contained.

The Minnesota Incident Command System said this morning that crews assigned to the Radar Fire were able to assist at the nearby fire that temporarily closed Highway 89 yesterday before returning to the Radar area.

GPS data collected from the infrared flight this morning will be used to locate pockets of heat and extinguish them.

Crews stand at the ready in case of new fire starts as most of Beltrami County is now under an extreme drought.

Burning restrictions remain in effect, and Radar Road is still closed to non-essential traffic.
