Minneapolis man charged with murder, manslaughter, in Cass Lake stabbing death

A Minneapolis man is facing second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter charges for a stabbing that killed a 19-year-old Cass Lake man.

Cass County deputies responded to a medical on Waboose Trail in Pike Bay Township last Saturday night.

In a complaint filed Tuesday,  the document states 34-year-old Floyd Robert Desjarlais and the 19-year-old were fighting at the victim’s grandfather’s house. Desjarlais was reportedly armed with a small bat and a small lock-blade knife.

The complaint says the victim was stabbed into the chest. He was treated on scene and at Cass Lake IHS where he was pronounced dead.

Desjarlais’ bail was set at $300,000 with no conditions and will make his next court appearance on May 23.
