Sen. Smith introduces legislation to assist childcare providers

Minnesota’s Senator Tina Smith recently introduced bipartisan legislation to assist child care providers.

The legislation includes provisions such as improving air filtration systems, reimbursing sanitizing costs, as well as hazard pay for employees.

The region, state and nation is facing a childcare shortage.

Last year, Beltrami County had 226 infant slots in daycares, and Sanford Bemidji recorded 887 births.
